TORONTO - Strange things have materialized in the Arizona desert.

We're not talking UFOs, but a court case involving Canadian basketball hero and national team general manager Steve Nash and his ex-wife, Alejandra. According to published reports, Alejandra wants to move with the couple's three children to Southern California so the kids can spend more time with their father.

Nash is trying to block the move, however, saying he doesn’t know how long he’ll be playing in Los Angeles with the Lakers and doesn’t want the kids to be uprooted again.

But Alejandra said Nash’s real motivation is that he doesn’t want to pay additional child support.

Nash reportedly paid around $5 million in the divorce settlement but would reportedly have to pay more if the Alejandra and kids move to California.

The irony is that Nash signed with the Lakers last year and turned down contract offers from both the New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors (remember them?) to be closer to his family.

This thing could turn ugly.
