EDMONTON - An Olympic and national diving coach based out of Edmonton is facing sex charges after a teenage boy alleged he was victimized in B.C.
The matter was brought to the attention of the Saanich Police Department (SPD) in early March when two teenaged males ó believed to be 16 and 17 years old ó came forward with sex-related allegations about their diving coach Trevor Palmatier.
Between 2004 and 2006, itís alleged the 43-year-old had sexual contact with one of the diving athletes in Victoria where he was employed as a coach for 10 years with Boardworks at Saanich Commonwealth Place.
In 2008, Palmatier relocated to Edmonton and has been coaching with the Edmonton Diving Club through his own business, Big Dog Diving.
On Wednesday morning, he was arrested and charged by Edmonton police. Given his position as a diving coach, police believe there may be other victims who have yet to come forward.
