Ross Rebagliati hopes to open Vancouver marijuana dispensary
From winning gold to selling 'gold,' former snowboarder hopes to start medical marijuana chain

Canadian Olympic hero Ross Rebagliati, a gold-medallist in snowboarding at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, has long been associated with marijuana.

Heck, the guy had his Olympic medal yanked (then returned) after he tested positive for weed during the Games. People are going to remember that tie in, no?

Well, Rebagliati is getting into the dope business now, opening a medical marijuana chain —called Ross’s Gold — with the flagship store in Whistler, B.C. The first store is expected to open by the fall of 2013 with others in Toronto and Vancouver planned for 2014.

“It is the hand I was dealt 15 years ago. I can’t get away from it,” Rebagliati said in a Vancouver Sun report. “So I decided if you can’t beat ‘em, you gotta join ‘em. You know, we’ve got some good backing and some great people on our team who are making this all come together. We’ve got experts in each category who are good at what they do.”

The 41-year-old from Vancouver hit the spotlight in Nagano when he became the first winner of snowboarding at the Olympics. He tested positive for marijuana and had his medal stripped but eventually got it back when the decision to disqualify him was overturned.
