CALGARY - Kaillie Humphries has been on top of the world in 2012.
The Calgary bobsleigh pilot has gone on an unprecedented run on the international circuit, winning seven straight world cup races — plus a world championship, just for good measure.
But right now, she’s just happy to be home for the holidays.
“This holiday season will be special — this will be a different one, for sure,” said Humphries, who extended her winning streak Dec. 14 with a victory in La Plagne, France.
“I’ll probably just stay on European time and go to bed at four in the afternoon and wake up at four in the morning, but it’ll be great. It’s awesome to see my mom and my sister and just catch up with family.”
The 27-year-old reigning Olympic champion’s streak began in February, when she won two world cups and became the first Canadian woman to win the bobsleigh world championships.
