BEAUSEJOUR, MAN. - Rich Bickle Jr. ran 85 races in the Winston Cup Series, which is now known as the Sprint Cup Series. It is NASCAR’s top level of stock car racing, and today it features the likes of Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

This weekend Bickle is in Beausejour, competing in the Outlaw 600 class of the Canadian Power Toboggan Championships. The Janesville, Wis., resident started out racing motorcycles on ice when he was a teenager, so the 51-year-old feels right at home.

“Now after all these years of racing, it’s just like I’m back full circle,” Bickle said. “Back on the ice.”

Bickle had three top 10s on the Winston Cup circuit, and he won three times on NASCAR’s truck series.

His specialty has always been short track racing, and he won the sport’s famous Snowball Derby race in Florida five times.
