Olympic snowboarder Shaun White apologized Tuesday for his "unwise choices" following his drunken arrest in Tennessee.

White was accused of allegedly trashing his suite at a hotel and setting off several fire alarms in the building following a confrontation with management staff Sunday in Nashville. He tried to make leave but slipped and fell, sustaining a cut to his head, and was subsequently arrested by police on suspicion of public intoxication and vandalism.

On his Facebook page Tuesday, White admitted he behaved badly after drinking too much while celebrating the wedding of his musician friend Patrick Carney.

"I want to apologize for the unwise choices I made over the weekend and for any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests," White said. "I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I'm truly sorry for my poor behaviour."

Carney, a member of the Black Keys, married Emily Ward Saturday in the backyard of their Nashville home.
