Shaun White arrested

Shaun White, one of the biggest stars in snowboarding, has been charged with public intoxication and vandalism after being arrested at a hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

White, a two-time Olympic gold medallist who has won 12 times at the Winter X Games, was arrested after allegedly pulling a fire alarm at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel just after midnight Sunday. All hotel guests were forced to be evacuated.

An employee also alleged that he saw White, 26, destroy a hotel telephone.

Nashville police said that White attempted to take off in a taxi but the driver was told the police were on the way. The snowboarder allegedly kicked the person calling police and ran away.

"The citizen reported that he chased White until White turned and ran into him, apparently causing White to fall backwards and strike his head against a fence," the police report states. "White was transported to a local hospital for treatment."

White was arrested after refusing to sign misdemeanor citations.
