Maelle Ricker ended a two-year victory drought by winning the World Cup snowboardcross event in Stoneham, Que., Tuesday.

Ricker, the 2010 Olympic champion who is coming off a hand injury that slowed her down, beat a pair of Frenchwomen, Nelly Moenne Loccoz and Deborah Anthonioz in the final. She posted third-place finishes in her previous two events before finally breaking through in Stoneham, the site of her last win.

"It's good to be in first place again and I like the way I'm improving race after race," Ricker said. "I would have liked to have Dominique (Maltais) with me and Michelle (Brodeur) in the finals."

Brodeur finished fourth while Maltais, a pre-race favourite, was seventh.

In the men's event, Robert Fagan's 17th-place finish was the best by a Canadian. Pierre Vaultier of France won the race, followed by Nikolay Olyunin of Russia and Jonathan Cheever of the U.S.
