Wrestler Colin Daynes has been banned for two years for a doping violation, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport announced Monday.
Daynes' urine sample at the Canadian wrestling qualification trials last Dec. 18 showed traces of the anabolic steroids boldenone and drostanolone as well as furosemide -- a diuretic -- and tomifen, an estrogen receptor modulator which is generally used to mitigate the physical side effects of steroid use.
Daynes, a former Olympian, waived his right to a hearing, acknowledged the violation and accepted the ban, which ends Dec. 18, 2013.
Danes, now based in Vancouver, is a native of the Windsor, Ont., area. He also competes in mixed martial arts.
