Canadian Lee sharp after long layoff
By QMI Agency

Canadian Peng Peng Lee capped a year-long comeback by finishing 19th Thursday in the women's all-round final in a star-studded field at the world championship in Tokyo.

Jordyn Wieber of the United States won the gold medal with 59.382 points, edging Russia's Victoria Komova who took the silver at 59.349. Jinnan Yao of China won bronze with 58.598 points.

Lee scored 54.732 in her world championship debut after a two-year hiatus from the national team because of a back injury.

"I didn't know if I was going to do gymnastics again so coming to the world championship has been amazing," the Toronto native said.

Lee also led Canada to an 11th place in the women's team event to gain a spot in the final Olympic qualification meet early next year.
