Smashing win for CanadaCanada tops Puerto Rico in straight sets at volleyball's Pan Am Cup

Canada was nothing if not consistent in its dominating win over Puerto Rico at the Pan Am Cup volleyball tournament Monday in Gatineau.
The Canadians rolled to a straight-set victory — winning all three sets by the same score of 25-17 — in one hour and 17 minutes.
Still, coach Glenn Hoag sounded like a man who was far from satisfied after the match.
“I think we have a lot of work to do,” said Hoag, whose team has been together for only four weeks. “We’re trying to play a faster game and it’s creating a lot of execution problems.”
Gavin Schmitt of Saskatoon, who led the Canadian attack with 14 points, agreed.
“I don’t feel we’re at the level we need to be at just yet,” Schmitt said. “Our consistency just isn’t there.”
The 10-team event ends Saturday.
