Canada wins bobsleigh bronze
By QMI Agency

Helen Upperton of Calgary, competing in her hometown, captured a women's bobsleigh bronze medal in World Cup action Friday.

Upperton shook off a shoulder injury sustained last week in Whistler and, along with Shelley-Ann Brown of Pickering, Ont., guided Canada 2 to third place at Canada Olympic Park.

Their combined time of 1:54.08 left them 0.51 seconds behind the winning sled of Cathleen Martini and Berit Wiacker of Germany and 0.19 seconds behind the silver medallists, Sandra Kiriasis and Christin Senkel, also of Germany.

The Canada 1 tandem of Kaillie Humphries of Calgary and Heather Hughes of Edmonton finished fourth with a combined time of 1:54:43.
