Now that the games are over, government officials are looking into allegations of corruption and mismanagement surrounding the awarding of contracts and work management.

"The government has decided to constitute a high-level committee under... [Former Auditor-General] VK Shunglu to look into all matters relating to organizing and conduct of the Commonwealth Games 2010," a spokesman for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told the BBC.

Reports of construction delays and the abysmal conditions of the athletes' village plagued the Games but in the end it was considered a success even though some competitors, including two Canadian archers, pulled out of the games citing health and safety issues.
