Tour de France champ failed drug test
By Sports Network

Pinto, Spain - Three-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador has revealed he tested positive for clenbuterol, a banned substance, during the Tour de France this past July.

According to a report from cyclingnews.com, Contador tested positive in a sample taken on July 21, during the second rest day, and the day before a stage finish atop the Col du Tourmalet. Contador went on to win the Tour by 39 seconds over Andy Schleck.

The cyclingnews report said Contador's press officer released a statement saying the positive test was due to food contamination. The Spaniard is scheduled to give a press conference at noon Thursday in his hometown of Pinto, near Madrid.

Contador, who also won the 2007 and 2009 Tours, has signed on to ride for the Saxo Bank cycling team after leaving Astana.
