MADRID -- Three-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador has decided to leave the Astana cycling team.
The Spaniard captured his second straight title at cycling's most prestigious event last weekend for the Astana team after winning his first Tour in 2007 with the Discovery Channel team.
Contador said in a statement that he wanted to "explore all possibilities" after Astana asked him for a decision on accepting a contract extension.
