There’s an anniversary party happening at Spruce Meadows this weekend, and you’re invited.

In celebration of its 35th year in operation just south of the city, officials are inviting Calgarians down for the North American competition, where they will be giving away prizes to dozens of lucky fans Saturday and Sunday.

“We’re going to be doing everything in groups of 35 in celebration of the anniversary,” said Kurby Court, vice-president of special features.

“Some of the unique prizes include selecting 35 people to have the best seats in the house from the Skybox for each competition.

“We’ll be going into the audience with 35 commemorative yearbooks.

“Four people will have the opportunity to actually view the competition from inside the International Ring. We’ll select them and bring them in and give them a nice little prize pack to go with that, as well.

“Then there’s 35 reserve seating tickets to Friday night for the Evening of the Horse and the fireworks that night.”

Each day, 35 fans will also be given tickets to see the Body Worlds exhibit on display at the Telus World of Science.

“That will happen all throughout the competitions, throughout the day at random times at random seats,” said Court.

Winning, said Court, is as easy as picking lucky seat.

“Just be in your seat,” he said.

“The prize team will arrive and blitz the section.”

Competition runs from 10:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Sunday.
