Top-seeded Ravens to face old foe in first round
By QMI Agency Staff

The Carleton Ravens have been named top seed for the CIS Final 8 men's basketball championship.

The six-time national champion, led by fifth-year centre Kevin McCleery of Nepean, will face the UQAM Citadins in a quarter-final on Friday (8 p.m., TSN2, ssncanada.ca).

Four seasons ago, UQAM lost a tough three-point decision to Carleton in the first round of the tournament in Halifax.

The defending national champion Ravens are 29-2 overall this season and won their third successive OUA title on Saturday, beating Windsor 71-52.

The Ravens' side of the draw includes Windsor (OUA runner-up) and the Saskatchewan Huskies (Canada West champion) in the 4 vs. 5 quarter-final. The other half of the draw consists of Cape Breton (AUS champion) and Calgary (Canada West runner-up) in the 2 vs. 7 matchup, with the UBC Thunderbirds (wild card) and Lakehead Thunderwolves (OUA third place).

TSN2 will air the 6 and 8 p.m. ET games on Friday live, along with the 5 p.m. semi-final on Saturday (the second game, which could involve Carleton, tips at 7 but will be tape-delayed to 10) and the final at 6:30 on March 21.

All championship-side games and the consolation game will be videocast by Streaming Sports Network (ssncanada.ca).
