An Edmontonian is among the four Canadians who plan to crash the party at an extreme ice skating competition in the Czech Republic this weekend.

Former world champion Gabriel Andre is off to Prague for Red Bull Crashed Ice on Saturday, after a strong showing at a Crashed Ice event in Quebec City last month.

"I'm pretty pumped about it," he says.

Crashed Ice is an obstacle course that sees competitors strap on skates to fly down an ice chute littered with turns, hills, jumps and underpasses at up to 70 km/h.

A qualifying event is held every year at Rexall Place. Andre, a hockey player with the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs of the Senior Triple-A Chinook League, says he first witnessed the event on TV when it came on after a hockey game.
