'Toban invited to U-17 rugby camp
By SUN MEDIA

Manitoba's Cody Kantyluk has been invited to the Canada Under-17 Rugby Team selection camp, to be held at Shawinigan Lake School on Vancouver Island, Feb. 7-15, 2009, Rugby Manitoba announced yesterday.

The best 26 players will be chosen to represent Canada at the Millfield Rugby Festival in England, March 28-April 13. Canada will play at least three games in the tourney which will include teams from England, Wales, Scotland, France, Georgia, Romania and the USA.

SATELLITES CANCEL TWO

The North Winnipeg Satellites, who lost their team bus to a freak fire, have cancelled their last two games before Christmas, club GM Jim Berezowsky relayed.

The Manitoba Junior B Hockey League team expects to be able to be able to play in Arborg on Jan. 2.

Since the club lost its hockey equipment to the fire, both North Winnipeg and Norway House are working on equipment recovery options.

BLUE WINS

Manitoba's Taylor Blue beat Guana's Edwin Galicia 15-10, 15-10 in the Boys 14 and Under category at the 20th IRF World Junior Racquetball Championships in Tempe, Ariz., on Tuesday.

ATOM HOCKEY FESTIVAL

Jennifer Botterill and Sami-Jo Small of Team Canada fame will be on hand at the Female Atom Hockey Festival, to be held at the MTS Centre on Dec. 27, Hockey Manitoba has announced.

All female players aged 9-10 are invited to register online at www.hockeymanitoba.mb.ca for a chance to participate.

SHE GOT IT WRONG

Sean Grassie says Allison Nimik was incorrect when she said the CCA was covering the cost for both her and him to attend the Continental Cup in Camrose, Alta. The CCA will, however, pay for Grassie to travel to Calgary to practise with her and for her to fly to Winnipeg to practise with him before competing at the World Mixed Doubles Championship in Italy.
