Kevin Olson has proven he can score with the Burnaby Lakers of the Western Lacrosse Association.

Now the Edmonton Rush are hoping he can do the same at the National Lacrosse League level.

Yesterday the Rush signed Olson, 25, for the upcoming season.

SECOND IN SCORING

The Vancouver native finished second in scoring during the B.C. summer-league season with 41 goals and 35 assists in 18 games.

He was also a first-team WLA all-star in 2006 and 2005 with 63- and 74-point seasons respectively.

"Kevin has a great stick and has always had a great ability to find the net," said Rush head coach and general manager Paul Day in a news release.

"There were a number of NLL teams that were looking at him very hard this off-season and we're very pleased that he is joining us."

Olson has some NLL experience, having played with the Vancouver Ravens in 2004 and the San Jose Stealth the following season.

He scored four goals and added three assists in five games during his brief stint in the league.

In other Rush news Jimmy Quinlan and Ben Prepchuk won the President's Cup Canadian Senior B lacrosse championship with the Sherwood Park Outlaws this weekend in Owen Sound, Ont.

Prepchuk scored four goals and added a pair of assists as the Outlaws defeated the Ajax-Pickering Rock 8-6 in the final.

TIED FOR LEAD

Quinlan was named a first-team all-star finishing the tournament in a tie for the scoring lead with nine goals and 19 assists as the Outlaws finished with a 6-0 record.

Prepchuck, who also had a hat-trick in a 10-9 semifinal win over Owen Sound, finished the tournament with 10 goals.

Rush players Kevin Howard, Darren Hillier and Peter Gut also played with the Outlaws on the weekend.
