Last year at this time, some Vancouver horsemen were having a great party at Northlands Park.

Not only did trainer Terry Jordan bring in Quiet Cash for victory in the City of Edmonton feature, but trainer Robert Van Overschot and former Alberta rider Richard Hamel (pictured) won with Starlite Strike in the Northlands Oaks, the 1 1/16-mile feature of tomorrow's thoroughbred card.

Locals, as usual, will deal with schedule changes caused by the annual influx of chuckwagons.

Thoroughbred horsemen started their mid-summer marathon by running Thursday night instead of Wednesday. Next, they'll race this afternoon instead of tonight.

Tomorrow and Sunday are hectic: thoroughbreds in the afternoon, chuckwagons at night. After the five-day chuckwagon visit ends on Tuesday, thoroughbreds move quickly back to their regular rotation.
