The Calgary Roughnecks have corralled the fifth most winning coach in National Lacrosse League history to marshal the defence in 2008.
Riggers' general manager Kurt Silcott yesterday announced he has signed Terry Sanderson as an assistant to join new head coach Troy Cordingley behind the Roughnecks bench.
"Terry has been a great coach in this game, and the NLL, for a long time," said Silcott in a statement. "He has a knack for getting the most out of his players and has the resume to prove it."
Sanderson's NLL career as a head coach began with the Albany Attack in 1999.
He then moved on to the Montreal Express, the Ottawa Rebel and the Toronto Rock, with whom he won the NLL championship in 2005. Last season, he was an assistant coach in Philadelphia.
Silcott continued, 60;I feel that with Terry and Troy behind the bench we have a dynamic tandem that will lead our team to the Champion57;s Cup.61;
Roughnecks captain Tracey Kelusky who played for Terry with the Montreal Express added, 60; I am really looking forward to the 2008 season as the new coaching staff will bring a new look and feel behind the bench,61; said Kelusky. 60;Terry holds players accountable and will get the most out of everyone and is a guy you want to play for.61;
Kelusky added, 60;Although we are sad to see Jeff Dowling not return, we welcome the change and look at it as a new era for the Riggers as Troy and Terry will complement each other well.61;
He has a career record of 53 wins and 51 losses.
