Jerry Bremner is catching fire at the most opportune time.

The Westerose chuckwagon driver won the penalty-filled $50,000 Tommy Dorchester Memorial Dash For Cash last night in Ponoka.

He'll be looking for even more when the Rangeland Derby, the sport's richest show, kicks off Friday night at Stampede Park.

"It's a heck of a lineup," Bremner said. "You've got to beat a lot of good guys to get to the podium.

"But it shows we'll have a chance if things go good."

Bremner (Highpine Oil & Gas) had the No. 4 barrel, which usually is not the preferable draw. But Bremner also won the season-opening Grande Prairie Stompede off the short barrel.

"Usually the Four Barrel is difficult to win off of," the 47-year-old said. "But we were fortunate."

Bremner, who has won half of the four stops on the Dodge Pro Tour, sits third in the WPCA's world standings.

He also won the Ponoka Stampede in 1996, three years after winning his lone Rangleand Derby title.

Darcy Flad (Dwight Green Oilfield Consulting) was awarded the DC Energy Services Clean Drive Award.
