Jerry Bremner will have to wait awhile to defend his title in the Gas City.

The Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede, the second stop on the WPCA's Dodge Pro Tour, was cancelled yesterday.

WPCA GM Jay Paylor said the drivers originally pushed the start back two days, hoping to race yesterday, tonight and tomorrow.

But the new track wasn't completed and was deemed unsafe.

"They're building a new track," Paylor said. "But they got backed up because of the moisture.

"They worked from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. but they just couldn't get it done."

Last year's event was shortened to two days because of rain and, in 2002, the drivers raced one night before heavy rains forced the final two days to be cancelled.

The WPCA is considering a make-up date in either late August or early September.

The next stop on the tour begins Friday in Lethbridge.
