There's a good chance you know someone who's in a fantasy league, in which participants make daily or weekly adjustments to their teams, or sports pools, in which there is a draft at the beginning of a season or an event and no changes made after that.
Ipsos Reid conducted an online poll last summer about fantasy sports players in Canada. They found that more than 5.3 million people have played for money at some point in their lives and that 1.3 million do it on a regular basis.

The Canadian region with the greatest percentage of fantasy players is Saskatchewan and Manitoba, where 19% of those polled had played for money at some time in their life and 6% play on a regular basis.
