A few programming notes from your friends at Rogers Sportsnet:

- In case you haven't noticed, Sportsnet News' supper-hour Ontario edition now airs at 6 p.m. That's to make room for a new HockeyCentral Leafs Edition at 6:30 p.m., which isn't seen in these parts. Sportsnet has also launched a similar Canucks program for Pacific viewers. No word yet on whether Senators/Canadiens (East) and Flames/Oilers (West) programs are in the works, though it sure makes sense, don't you think?

- All of the above has meant the demise of The Hockey News show. And Darren Dreger's increased presence as a HockeyCentral host has taken him off game host duty for Sens broadcasts on the 'Net. It's the same story for busy feature reporter Chris Simpson, also a Sens game host in previous seasons.

TEAM GETS ANGRY: He's one of the Team 1200's best-known call-in guys. Now he's joined their team. 'Angry' Al Armstrong and Lee Versage are the hosts for Sunday Best, a morning-after hockey wrapup show which debuts this weekend at 8 a.m. The two-hour show will naturally be Senators heavy in content. "It'll mostly be light-hearted," said Armstrong, who earned his 'Angry' tag after he got weary listening to callers "trash the Sens" and let 'em all have it in a stormy on-air rebuttal. "Eventually, it just became a lot of fun."

THE ENVELOPE PLEASE ...: TSN's James Duthie and Sportsnet's Dreger are among the Gemini Award nominees for best host/interviewer in a sports program. They're up against CBC's Scott Russell, Tom Harrington and Deborah Gray ... Nominated for best sports play-by-play or analyst: CBC's Steve Armitage/Byron MacDonald (Athens Olympics swimming) and Bob Cole/Harry Neale, and TSN's Glen Suitor ... One of the more interesting nominations: CBC's 2005 Brier coverage, for best live sporting event. The hardware will be handed out Nov. 17-19 in Toronto.

AROUND THE DIAL: Sportscaster Ken Reid finishes his run at A-Channel tonight. He's heading west to join the CTV affiliate in Edmonton. The search for a replacement is under way, said A-Channel news director Peter Angione ... Young guns Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza are featured on Molson Senators Overtime, tonight at 7 on Rogers Television.
