Christie facing trial over car crash

British Olympic gold medallist Linford Christie will stand trial on a charge of dangerous driving later this year.

The retired sprinter, 50, is facing the count following a car crash with a taxi in Buckinghamshire, England in May last year, which left both drivers and two passengers in the cab needing treatment in hospital.

A police investigation into the collision found Christie to be at fault and he is now facing punishment over the crime.

Christie, who scooped gold in the 100 metres at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, has denied the charge.

He appeared at a hearing in Aylesbury Crown Court on Wednesday and will return to enter his plea on Mar. 9.
