Skicross is in the Winter Olympics for good and women's hockey got the green light for the 2014 Games in Sochi.

But the International Olympic Committee delayed a decision Monday to add 10 disciplines, including women's ski jumping, to the next Winter Games.

The IOC announced in Acapulco, Mexico that it is "looking favorably" at women's ski jumping, men's and women's ski halfpipe and slopestyle, men's and women's snowboard slopestyle, biathlon mixed-team relay, figure skating team events and luge team race relay.

"Before taking a final decision, the (Executive Board) decided it would look at the outcome of the respective world championship events coming up in all of those," said IOC spokesman Mark Adams.

IOC president Jacques Rogge will ultimately decide by the end of April which new events to stage in Sochi, Russia.

"I am quite certain that it'll be in (the Games in) 2014, because they will see progress from the last world championship," said Ski Jumping Canada chairman Brent Morrice.

Top female ski jumpers felt they were snubbed when the IOC decided in 2006 not to add a women's division to the Vancouver Games because their sport had yet to hold a world championship. American Lindsay Van became the first women's world champion in 2009 and will defend her title on Feb. 24, 2011 in Oslo, Norway.

"It feels like the IOC is making us prove the same thing again and again, that we're ready for the Olympics," said Calgary ski jumper Katie Willis, who left the sport to study engineering at McGill University in Montreal. "I'm on the fence right now, I was hoping that if I got a definite decision that it's a yes, that I would be going back to Team Canada."

Willis and Van were among 15 athletes named in a British Columbia Supreme Court gender discrimination lawsuit against the IOC. A judge ruled in their favour in 2009, but was powerless to act against the Switzerland-based IOC. A Supreme Court of Canada appeal failed.
