TORONTO - The "Man in Motion" is teaming up with the Olympic Winter Games to honour the special people who inspire Canadian athletes.
Rick Hansen, the paralyzed activist who raised millions for spinal cord research in the '80s, will host a 17-part series called "The Difference Makers" next winter.
It will air daily on television, radio and online during the Olympic Games and kicks off as part of a pre-show to the opening ceremony on Feb. 12.
Officials say the series pays tribute to the coaches, teachers, parents, siblings and even rivals who have helped Olympians and Paralympians face personal and athletic challenges.
A French-language version will be hosted by two-time Olympic silver medallist Alexandre Despatie.
Hansen, who was paralyzed from the waist down after being thrown from a truck at age 15, raised $26 million for spinal cord research with a wheelchair-powered tour around the world in the '80s.
The last day of the Paralympic Games - which run March 12 to 21, 2010 - will mark 25 years to the day that Hansen left Vancouver to begin his "Man In Motion World Tour."
