Two Calgary Olympic hopefuls mugged at gunpoint in South America say they were left shaken, but will not give up on their training.
Ray Sewell and Ty Fraser were practising and filming at a beach in Joao Pessoa, Brazil, on Sunday when a man brandishing a large revolver robbed them of their video equipment and credit cards.
The pair, and trainer Glen de los Reyes, were filming their YouTube Short Beach Shorts series for their sponsors when things took a sinister turn, said Fraser.
"We had been up to our usual antics -- wearing our travel jackets while doing yoga, jogging, handstands, cartwheels and pouring copious amounts of water on ourselves to cool off in the 35C heat -- when a young man ... walked past us staring at us," he said.
"With water in our eyes and camera rolling he approached Glen and speaking loudly in Portuguese said a bunch of stuff that none of us understood.
"This fellow ... lifted his tank top and sticking from the top of his ... board shorts was a large black revolver."
At gunpoint, the man took their bags and video equipment, said Fraser. Ray and Fraser are in Brazil training for a run at the 2012 Olympics.
