They've had a stunning coaching change less than two months before the Olympics, an eyebrow-raising change of captains and have lost four straight to their biggest rivals.

You wouldn't be wrong to characterize the women's hockey team as a mess heading into the defence of the gold medal, which was their third straight, in Sochi.

The run-up to these Olympic Games has been marked by turmoil and its chubby sidekick, controversy, for Canada's Olympic women's hockey team.
