Rick Nash knows the ins and outs of the international ice surface.

A member of Canada’s 2010 gold-medal team in Vancouver, injuries and slowing production had made him a bubble pick for Team Canada 2014, but that experience on the big ice no doubt helped his candidacy for Sochi.

Nash played at the Turin Olympics in 2006 where Canada finished seventh on the big ice, spent two lockouts playing in Europe and has played in four world championships.

Now he’ll get another shot in Sochi.

“I’ve been lucky to play two lockouts on the international ice and have some success at world championships. It truly is a different game,” he said.
