It'll be close, but it looks like there's a possibility Steven Stamkos could suit up for Team Canada in Sochi.

TSN is reporting Stamkos, who broke his leg Nov. 11, has targeted Feb. 6 as a potential return date. Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning host the Toronto Maple Leafs that night, with the Olympics beginning in Russia a week later.

Stamkos is "ahead of schedule," according to TSN, and has plans to work out with ex-NHLer and noted fitness guru Gary Roberts over the Christmas break in an effort to stay ahead of the curve. By January, the 23-year-old sniper hopes to be training twice a day.

"If everything works out, which I'm hoping that it does, and get a chance to come back and play a couple games with Tampa and maybe get the opportunity to play in the Olympics, that would be great," Stamkos told reporters Nov. 25.

"That is a goal for me."

Canada's first Olympic game is scheduled for Feb. 13 against Norway.
