CALGARY - Returning from injury is nothing new for Jan Hudec.

This is the skier who’s suffered through seven knee surgeries and persistent back problems throughout his stellar alpine career, and has come back time and time again to compete at the peak of his sport.

Only a couple weeks ago, Hudec herniated a disc in his lower back while training in the gym, and rumours immediately began circulating that he might be unable to compete in Sochi.

Those rumours were put to rest last weekend when Hudec returned to race at the World Cup stop in Kitzbuhel, Austria.

And after the Canadian team was held disappointingly medal-less at the 2010 Vancouver Games, Hudec’s feeling much more confident about his preparations this time around.

“I think for the most part we’ll be more prepared,” the 32-year-old said. “In Vancouver, personally, in my opinion, as a team we almost over-prepared because of the pressures of performing.
