In John Morris's mind, the dream scenario goes something like this: his new team from B.C. is undefeated going into its last round-robin game at the Canadian Olympic Trials.

And so is his opponent, former teammate Kevin Martin.

"It'd be pretty cool if that last game there are some playoff implications or we're tied," Morris was saying, Friday, shortly before boarding a flight to Winnipeg for the Roar of the Rings, beginning Sunday. "Both of us undefeated would be ideal. And may the best team win.

"We're not going to let our emotions get the best of us."

But the emotions will be there.

Morris, long one of the best thirds in the business, was part of the Martin juggernaut for seven years, winning nearly everything, including back-to-back Briers, a world championship and Olympic gold, in Vancouver.

But like so many marriages, it ended in divorce, and a very public one, at that.
