Canadian Olympic star Christine Sinclair would carry flag with pride

COVENTRY, ENGLAND - Christine Sinclair would be honoured — speechless almost — to be chosen as Canada’s flag bearer at the Closing Ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games. And, really, who deserves it more? “If it happens, that would be the highest honour I could imagine,” the Canadian soccer player said after Thursday’s bronze medal victory over France. “To represent our team, I am such a proud Canadian, that would be so special, such a great feeling.” When the soft-spoken Sinclair was asked what she would say if chosen, she wasn’t certain. “I don’t even know what I’d say if asked, except yes. I’d be pretty overwhelmed.” steve.simmons@sunmedia.ca Twitter: simmonssteve |
