Cameron Levins moves to 5,000M final
By CHRIS STEVENSON, QMI Agency
LONDON - This has already been a successful Olympic Games for Cameron Levins. The runner from Black Creek, B.C., turned in a personal best performance in the heats of the 5,000 metres at the Olympic Stadium Wednesday to advance to Saturday's final. That was his goal coming into these Games. He said a strong performance in the 10,000 metres Saturday gave him confidence. "I'm glad to have made it through. I was more confident in the 5K than the 10K. I knew I just needed to get to the last lap and go," said Cameron, whose time of 13 minutes, 18.29 seconds was the eighth-fastest time in the two heats. "Finishing 11th in the 10K provided me with a lot of experience and gave me a big confidence boost that I can race at this level." The top five runners in each heat moved on, as well as the next five fastest times. chris.stevenson@sunmedia.ca twitter.com/CJ_Stevenson
