U.S. bounces Canada from quarters in women's basketball

By CHRIS STEVENSON, QMI Agency

LONDON - Canada’s women’s basketball team achieved some new highs at these Olympic Games.

Unfortunately on Tuesday, they ran into a steamroller.

Canada lost 91-48 to the high-powered offence of the Americans in their semifinal game. The result was not surprising given the Americans had outscored their opponents by an average of 37 points in the preliminary round.

Getting to the quarterfinal was a history-making development for Canada, ranked 12th in the world, so despite the flattening at the hands of the Americans, they can leave here with their heads held high.
