CALGARY - So, you want to find out who the favourite is to carry Canada's flag at the opening ceremonies at the Olympic Games in London later this month?

Be aware, there’s more than one poll out there, and be equally aware the final decision on who earns the honour this year is a decision made by the Canadian Olympic Committee. Nonetheless, it’s a fun exercise, especially for those hoping veteran horse jockey Ian Millar gets the nod.

Millar is considered to be among the frontrunners when the COC makes its final decision, which is expected to come down perhaps as soon as this week.

Competing at the North American at Spruce Meadows this week, the Perth, Ont., resident was asked what it would mean to him if he was to be Canada’s flag-bearer at what will be a record-setting 10th Olympics Games appearance for him.

“It’d be a great thrill for me,” Millar said. “But it’d also be great for equestrian sports.”
