No noisemakers allowed at Olympic venues

Keep it down! Noisemakers such as vuvuzelas will be banned from Olympic venues during the Games in London. (KONSTANTIN CHERNICHKIN/Reuters file photo)

London's Olympic venues will be vuvuzela-free zones during the 2012 Games.

If you're planning on going to any Olympic events, don't bring along strobe lights, tents, radio scanners, roller skates or pets or you won't get them into the venue. Oh, and leave your guns and knives at home, too.

The list of banned and restricted items fans can bring to Olympic venues varies from the obvious -- guns, explosives, etc. -- to the humourous, things like oversized hats and frisbees, both of which are both restricted, don't ya know.

Vuvuzelas, the buzzing noisemakers that made the televised World Cup games in South Africa almost unwatchable, are on the restricted list, too, along with air horns, klaxons, drums and whistles.

Flags of countries not participating in the Olympics are also restricted, with the exception of the individual U.K. countries. And "excessive amounts of food" won't get into the venues either.
