IN DEPTH |
The Canada-U.S. men's hockey game drew an astounding 10.6 million viewers Sunday night — making it the most-watched sports program in recorded Canadian television history.
Viewership for the game, which ended with the Americans winning 5-3, peaked at 13 million in Canada, meaning it was watched at some point by two out of every three Canadians. The numbers even beat the opening ceremony, which drew 8.95 million, broadcaster CTV says.
To put the hockey game's viewership in perspective, the ratings are 59% higher than the Canadian broadcast of the Super Bowl.
