A small funeral was held Monday for the Georgian luger whose death while training last week stunned the sporting world and sent shockwaves through the Vancouver 2010 Games.
About 50 members of the public joined officials from Georgia's Olympic delegation, the VANOC committee and the IOC to pay respect to Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, who was killed Friday after being thrown from the track and striking a steel pillar at the controversially fast Whistler Sliding Centre.
Kumaritashvili's body will reportedly be flown from Vancouver Monday, arriving in his home country Tuesday.
