The body of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili will be leaving Vancouver Monday and will arrive in his homeland on Wednesday where funeral plans are underway, QMI Agency has learned.
Meanwhile on Monday, dozens of mourners gathered outside First Memorial funeral home in East Vancouver to honour the memory of Kumaritashvili.
VANOC officials clad in sky blue jackets and black arm bands have joined the Georgian delegation of coaches, athletes and family in grieving the Olympic athlete who died on Friday during a practice run on the Whistler luge track.
Vancouver police secured the surrounding area.
