WHISTLER - There won't be a Jamaican bobsled in these Olympics, but depending on the result of a protest, the Brazilians hope to slide into the competition.

Olympic officials are dealing with a last-minute legal challenge from Brazil which is trying to get its sled into the Olympic event due to run next week.

The Brazilian Ice Sports Federation filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Thursday, protesting the qualification system for the Olympic competition. A final decision is expected on Friday.

The Brazilian team consists of Fabiana Santos and Daniela Ribeiro, the pair that won a second-tier America’s Cup race in Utah this past December. They are bidding to be the first Brazilian Women’s Bobsleigh team to compete at the Olympics.
