Teemu Selanne has broken the all-time Olympic men's hockey scoring record, which had been held by Canadian Harry Watson.
Selanne, the so-called Finnish Flash whose scoring prowess is no secret to NHL fans, assisted a power-play goal by fellow Finn Kimmo Timmonen Friday night to record his 37th point in Olympic competition. Vancouver marks his fifth trip to the Games.
The 39-year-old has scored 20 goals and 17 assists in his Olympic career.
The record had been shared by Soviet scoring ace Valeri Kharlamov, Vlastimil Bubnik of Czechoslovakia and Watson — who scored practically at will en route to a Canadian gold medal at the 1924 Games in Chamonix, France.
