Bio: The 20-year old Bucsis shocked speed skating fans when she burst out of obscurity to win an upset silver medal at the Canadian Olympic trials to snag a trip to the 2010 Olympics. Name: Clara Hughes. Event: 3000m, 5000m. Bio: At the 2002 Winter Olympics Hughes became only the fourth athlete in Olympic history to win medals in both the summer and winter Olympic Games. Name: Lucas Makowsky. Event: 1500m, 5000m, Team Pursuit. Bio: At only 22-years of age Makowsky is going into the 2010 Olympics as a first-timer. His 2009 World Championship results have been solid and a definite improvement over the 2008 season. In 2006 he won a silver medal as part of the Canadian pursuit team, though his strongest discipline is the 1500m in which he currently holds the world-record. Name: Jeremy Wotherspoon. Events: 500m, 1000m. Bio: One of the best sprint racers of all time, Wortherspoon has had the worst luck when in comes to the Olympics. In 1998 at Nagano, he won a silver in the 500m -- his only Olympic medal to date. Going into the 2002 Games, he was the favourite to win gold, but tripped at the start of the race and wound up not finishing his race. In 2006 he also came away with no medals. Bio: A mere 14 months ago a brash 23-year old Giroux decided he was going to make the jump from short to long track speed skating and declared he was going to compete in Vancouver. Name: Tamara Oudenaarden. Events: 500m. Bio: A 22-year old student at the University of Calgary, Oudenaarden goes into Vancouver with a much shorter resume than the majority of her teammates. Name: Kristina Groves. Event: 1000m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, Team Pursuit. Bio: Groves will be competing in her third consecutive Winter Games, making her one of the veterans on the long track team. With two Olympic silvers under her belt, both at Turin in 2006, and 16 World Championship medals to her credit, she'll be relied on to help the Canadian medal tally in Vancouver.
