Should women hockey players apologize for smoking and drinking on ice?

VANCOUVER -- Hockey Canada apologized Thursday for a boozy impromptu party the Olympic women's hockey team threw for itself on the Canada Hockey Place ice after winning the gold medal.

Canadian players, still wearing their uniforms and with gold medals draped around their necks, celebrated their victory by drinking champagne and beer at centre ice following a 2-0 win over the United States.

The International Olympic Committee said it will investigate the celebration, which included drinking by one of Canada's underage players.

In a statement released late Thursday, Hockey Canada apologized.

Hey, drinking beer in public is as Canadian as playing hockey on a frozen pond. It’s not like they were smoking cigars in public, or lighting up a joint!

Because of their irresponsible behaviour, the entire Canadian team should have to forfeit their medals...give them all back...gold silver bronze...apologize profusely and then change the national anthem to Oh Canada there'll be no beer for thee!

I believe the womens hockey team should not have to apologize for anything did

because they were on the ice when the game was long over and wanted to have

some fun, which they did. Who ever took the photo is stupid because at the time

the girls had on the ice was theres and those girls could have celebrated anyway

they wanted to. Also, Don Cherry apologized for the girls which if the girls were

teens (16-19) maybe that would count but these are grown women, they can take

care of them selves. As a man, I believe women anywhere have just the same

amount, if not more power than men. In conclusion, I strongly trust that the females

on the Canadian hockey team should not apologize for there actions of pure happyness.

I also believe that all females are equal to men.

Congratulations to the Ladies and to the Men's Hockey. I would of course preferred another outcome, but both my teams were simply outplayed. I sure enjoyed it anyway.

For the ladies and their celebrating, forget it and let them enjoy. No harm done, they deserved it, so did the men. Congrats Canada and thanks for a great Olympics. You did fantastic.
