Joannie, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom, and I think you are incredibly brave for continuing to compete at the Olympics. Have no doubt that your mom will be with you the entire time you're on the ice. I'll be watching from home and cheering you on!

You and your family must come first in your life; we believe in you and want you to know that whatever transpires over the next few days, we support you. May your god bless. Thinking of you and your family at this most difficult time. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Joannie, your mother will always be with you. That bond never fades. Just know that even though your mother is only there in spirit you have many Canadian moms that will stand and cheer and adopt you as a daughter on this Olympic journey. As a mom I support whatever you decide regarding competing. Love to you.

My condolences at this difficult time. Do what you need to do to get you through this -- if you need to go home, go home. If you need to skate, skate. No one can tell you how to grieve. You will be loved and respected no matter what you choose to do.
