Your reaction to Canadian hockey roster?

Team Canada GM Steve Yzerman named his roster for the men's hockey team at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Do you like the team? Who was left off that should have been named? Have your say in our forum.

I'm disappointed with the look of our team. They spent countless hours scouring the league for the right fit with the basis of how every player has performed, but have left behind (in my opinion)some of the gritiest, talented and outright experienced players based mostly on performance. So, lecavlier,Phaneuf and Fisher have not been the most productive for there perspective teams. We all know that something ignites deep inside all of us when we put on that Canadian jersey.

The key to putting a team like this together is placing a few veterans that the other players respect within a group of players who are coachable. Being a young team, many of these guys are only a few years removed from international competition. Also, with many of them being young, they have yet to develop the stigma of being a 'know it all' NHL superstar. These guys may actually listen to the systems the coaching staff will try to instill in them.

For all Canadians, when it comes to hockey, it's 'gold medal or bust' anyway. No one will be satisfied with anything but, especially on home turf. So, these guys are in tough already with the 'armchair quarterback' type of critic.

Solid picks all the way! No argument about anyone selected or not.

As for who should go to the Olymics in any sport - The VERY BEST athletes in the world should always go. I don't care if you're a pro or not. If you're the best then you should go.

So far it seems to be love or hate for most of you.

Lets face it, Canada could easily field two teams if not three with the talent that is available. You have to look at chemistry off and on the ice.

I like the "blue collar" look to this team vs the primadona look for the Turin games of 06. The only way Canada can lose is if they don't play "their game" or underestimate their opponents regardless of who is on team Canada.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with the talent base Yzerman had to work with. I hope they keep the shark line together as they've played together and will be a constant scoring threat. Angelo, who wrote earlier about Crosby mustn't have watched last year either as Crosby was great during the playoffs.

The team is solid, there are people who don't like some picks, but any combination of the players from the Aug. camp would make a good team.

PS Cam Lewps, Patrick Kane is American, so of course we don't care if he was passed over... I expect he will be on the USA team though.

Hey Cam, if you actually knew anything about hockey, you would have known that Patrick Kane is an American and is therefore ineligible to play for Canada but he was picked by the US team.

My only negative reaction was that Dustin Penner wasn't added. He's having a helluva year for a guy on a bottom-place team. Every Oilers game I've caught, he's been playing his heart out and having an impact. We could've used a younger, hulking guy up front...and one who is hot THIS year. BUt, let's face it, you can't get everyone on the team. Interesting that no one is singing the blues about Patrick Kane being passed over...........no big surprise, eh?

Russia and Sweden will beat us like baby seals!!
