Who would you pick for Team Canada?
Thu, February 12, 2009 With only a year to go before the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Steve Yzerman and his management group are already busily scouting players for the roster. Everyone has an opinion about who Yzerman should name to the team next winter. Here's your chance to pick your own version of Team Canada that will hit the ice in Vancouver next winter. Who would be your pick to start in net for Team Canada? Which defencemen would you take to anchor the blueline? Which forwards do you think are a lock to play in Vancouver next February? We'll limit the roster to 21 players -- 12 forwards, six defencemen and three goaltenders -- and we'll give you some help by providing the names of 40 Canadian players who should be given serious consideration. Forwards Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh); Joe Thornton (San Jose); Jarome Iginla (Calgary); Vincent Lecavalier (Tampa Bay); Rich Nash (Columbus); Ryan Getzlaf (Anaheim); Jeff Carter (Philadelphia); Mike Richards (Philadelphia); Dany Heatley (Ottawa); Shane Doan (Phoenix); Patrick Marleau (San Jose); Marc Savard (Boston); Simon Gagne (Philadelphia); Jonathan Toews (Chicago); Martin St. Louis (Tampa Bay); Eric Staal (Carolina); Ryan Smyth (Colorado); Jason Spezza (Ottawa); Milan Lucic (Boston); Corey Perry (Anaheim); Todd Bertuzzi (Calgary); Brendan Morrow (Dallas); Mike Cammalleri (Calgary). Defencemen Dion Phaneuf (Calgary); Chris Pronger (Anaheim); Jay Bouwmeester (Florida); Dan Boyle (San Jose); Shea Weber (Nashville); Scott Niedermayer (Anaheim); Mike Green (Washington); Brian Campbell (Chicago); Robyn Regehr (Calgary); Brent Burns (Minnesota); Sheldon Souray (Edmonton). Goaltenders Roberto Luongo (Vancouver); Marty Turco (Dallas); Steve Mason (Columbus); Martin Brodeur (New Jersey); Carey Price (Montreal); Cam Ward (Carolina). Here's your chance to have your say. Tell us who you think should go for gold in Vancouver. |
